Katie Sakov has been involved in the art world for over two decades. She has worked as an art dealer, an art consultant, and an art advisor. She has also been a contributing writer to Art in America, Artforum, and Frieze. In addition, she has taught art history at both the college and graduate levels.

Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Sakov immigrated to the United States with her family in 1979. They settled in Brooklyn, New York. Sakov earned a BA in art history from Hunter College in 1992 and an MA in art history from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University in 1994.

Sakov’s career in the art world began at the Marian Goodman Gallery in New York, where she worked as a gallery assistant from 1994 to 1996. She then moved to the Gagosian Gallery, where she worked as a sales associate from 1996 to 1999. In 1999, Sakov opened her own art dealership, Sakov Art Advisors, which she ran until 2004.

In 2004, Sakov became an art consultant for Sotheby’s, working with the auction house’s private clients.
